So I figured I'd have to read the entirety of each of the books I'm supposed to have for my Black American Lit course, and I figured I'd start with the earliest chronologically, The Classic Slave Narratives. Specifically I read the first two in the compilation, The Life of Olaudah Equiano and The History of Mary Prince. So which am I supposed to have read come next Thursday? Part of the third in the compilation. Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass.

Did I mention, slave narratives? Including, in Equiano's case, the Middle Passage? Including, in both Equiano's and Prince's books, descriptions of appalling violence? And now I find out I didn't actually have to read those at all.
