Thing I've just discovered: cloth diapers are banned from lots of laundromats and daycare centers, which means single parents, families with both parents working, and families without access to private laundry machines have to use disposable diapers. These families are predominantly those on the lower income levels, which often means the people helped by WIC and food stamps.
Other thing I've just discovered: WIC and food stamps do not cover diapers.
Help a Mother Out has a list of organizations in the US (not even close to covering every state) that distribute free diapers to parents in need. Please donate and/or spread the word.
How the ever-loving fuck can we possibly expect women not to have 'I can't afford this baby' abortions when we don't even make sure every baby has
diapers?
Not starting a diaper bank in this state. Not. NOT. No time, no money. Not happening. Even if I did just email the DC Diaper Bank to ask how one starts one.
