Sep. 29th, 2012 02:44 pmIs it unreasonable of me to expect computer hardware that's supposed to work right out of the box to work right out of the box?
Though to be fair, this is a software problem. I am going to drive to CompUSA to price software that will play Blu-ray discs on my new Blu-ray drive, since Microsoft says Windows Media Player can't and won't, and since VLC says this:
Blu-Ray error:
This Blu-Ray Disc needs a library for AACS decoding, and your system does not have it.
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'bluray:///K:/'. Check the log for details.
Tried a couple free software downloads and they're not working. I may come home from CompUSA with a software box, I probably will not, I certainly should not because I'm low on cash, so in case I do not, do y'all have recommendations?
ETA: Did not in fact come home with software. CompUSA sells no software to make my damn Blu-ray drive play my damn Blu-rays. Neither does Best Buy. At least the Best Buy is next to the Michaels, where I found things I need for something unrelated, and the route from there home goes past the shiny new library. Which does not have the end-of-shelf signs saying what books are on that shelf. I really hope I am able to get through Sunday without my frustration level ratcheting up every time I blink; three days of this shit is plenty.
