The Mitchells vs The Machines
the flash-flash gave me a headache so I've already warned an epileptic friend off it; anyone with problems around visuals of insects, fire, or vomiting, there are bits you'll want to cover your eyes and ears for; anyone with problems around sympathetically depicted police, there's something of an important subplot
apparently everybody else in the household noticed the rainbow pin our narrator is wearing in the promo materials (at the very end, her mother asks if our narrator and another girl are official yet)
not sure if all the themes are as heavy-handed as they feel to me or if I've just spent that much time analyzing stories
I see what they did there with the making the end of the world the fault of a techbro named Mark whose company logo resembles Amazon's and whose headquarters, according to the housemate who's worked in Silicon Valley, resembles Apple's, and making that techbro Black when all the aforementioned RL techbros and also Our Heroes are white
(or at least I'm pretty sure Our Heroes are white? the dad is for sure, the mom I'm not quite so sure about)
I also see what they did there with the validating the dad's prepper nonsense in a way that supports the queer girl's plans and dreams
mostly I am delighted that neurodivergent family saves world, but also, did I mention the flashy lights headache

Much flash, very mostly silly stuff, reasonably good rep.
